Rental Management Interim Release Disks – Level 4.05/4.06

By terrybauer • October 2nd, 2009

This page contains Interim Release Disks for Automated Rental Management, level 4.05 and above. It is very
Important that you know the following before you download and attempt to install the associated files:

  1. Do not attempt to install any of the following files unless instructed to do so by a member of the BCS ProSoft, Inc. support/programming staff. If your current version of Automated Rental Management is not at least at level 4.05, then DO NOT CONTINUE. (If you have already upgraded to the 4.05 version of MAS90, then your level must be at least 4.05 to continue.)
  2. You must insure that your current software level falls within the levels listed on the download link below. If the IRD file set is current to your installed version of Automated Rental Management, then download this file and perform the upgrade as instructed. The Interim release file set is inclusive of the versions listed; so, if you missed a download, then the current file is the only one you need to download and install.
  3. Do not install an interim release without first completing a system backup.
  4. If you are not 100% clear about what to do, DO NOT CONTINUE. For a small fee, BCS staff can send you an IRD installation file on a floppy diskette or CD-Rom.

*Warning*

BCS ProSoft recommends that you install an interim release at a period in time when the system is not in use by others.

As of May 27, 2008, BCS ProSoft no longer distributes, via the IRD install set, the stock ODBC data dictionaries as shipped with the original product. The stock ODBC data dictionaries are now distributed in a separate install known as the ODB set. If you choose to install this ODB set and if you have created UDF entities for ARM, it will be necessary for you to use the Custom Office utilities to restore your UDF fields to the ODBC dictionaries. If you have additional questions concerning these procedures, contact BCS ProSoft for additional details or instructions prior to installation of either IRD or ODB release sets. In addition, if you have made any panel changes to your ARM panels using Custom Office, then you will need to run the Custom Office rebuild utilities in order that any changes we have made to the stock ARM panels will be propagated to your customized panels.

(As of 4.06, build 11, we have added a new tabbed folder to Contract Entry. Custom Office rebuild utilities are not correctly updating customized screen libraries. If you have trouble getting the screen panel for this tab to display, contact our support department. We can assist you.)

  1. You must download the file onto a computer running Windows XP, or Windows 2000. MAS90/MAS200 no longer supports Windows 98. Windows ME is not supported on MAS 200 Version 4.05.
  2. Select the Interim Release archive from the table above to begin the download process. Make sure your version of Automated Rental Management falls inclusively between the release versions specified.
  3. We recommend that you download the file(s) into a temporary directory on your hard drive, so that you can easily access it after the download is complete. (Note: If you are using the MAS200 version, you must download or copy the file(s) to the server).
  4. At this time, be certain that EVERYONE is logged out of MAS 90 before continuing. Also, if you have not backed up your software, do so NOW. Finally, make one last check to insure that you have the correct Interim Release Disk set for the level of the Rental software you are currently running. (From the Library Master Reports menu, run the Installed Modules Listing to check your version of Automated Rental Management.)
  5. The Automated Rental Management interim release is delivered as an archived installation file with a file name extedsion “.zip”. Download the archive file to a temporary location on your hard drive, then use an archive utility such as WinZip to “unzip” the file. Double-click the resulting ROird406.EXE program to start the install. Be sure to point the installer to the MAS90 folder on your server drive. You will need to accept the license agreement before you will be allowed to proceed with the installation.
  6. When you have completed the upgrade installation, start MAS 90 and access Company Maintenance in the Library Master Main folder. Access each company on your system using the ARM software, and press the “Convert” button. Convert only the current company. We do not recommend that you convert all companies at one time. (If the conversion fails because of a data issue, it is easier to determine in which company the problem exists if you are only converting the one company.)
  7. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the support staff at BCS.
